An investor- The proposed business activity should generate an annual turnover exceeding Rs 3 million.
For this purpose, the investor will need to set up a company, société or partnership.

A professional – The monthly salary should exceed Rs 30,000. |

Self-employed- The proposed business activity should generate an annual turnover exceeding Rs 600,000. |

What is the validity period of the OP? |

In which circumstances can the OP be cancelled or deregistered? |

The OP may be cancelled by the Board of Investment if the holder

|
no longer satisfies the criteria and conditions of registration. |

has acted in contravention to the laws of Mauritius. |
|
has given any false or misleading information in the application. |
|
What is a work permit (WP)? |
|
Non-citizens who do not meet the requisite criterias for Ops, should apply for a work permit at the work permit Unit at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment. |

Can dependents apply for Residence Permits (RP)? |
|
Yes. |
|
Processing time for this category varies between 3 to 5 working days. |
|
The spouse of holder of an OP is eligible to work in Mauritius. A separate application for either an OP or WP should be submitted. |

Who can apply for a Permanent Resident Permit (PRR)? |
|
|
An investor- The proposed business activity should generate an annual turnover exceeding Rs 15 million during the first 3 years. |
|
Self-employed- The proposed business activity should generate an annual turnover exceeding Rs 3 million during the first 3 years. |

What is the validity period of a PRR? |

10 Years from the expiry of the OP. |

Can dependents and spouse apply for a PRR? |
|
Yes. |
|
What is a Residence permit for a Retired Non Citizen? |
|
It is a permit that allows an eligible retired non-citizen to reside in Mauritius. It does not give the right to work.

Features: |

Eligibility: If he/she undertakes to transfer to his/her local bank account in Mauritius of at least USD 40,000 or its equivalent in any other foreign currency. |
|
Same processing and other procedures applicable as for an OP. |
|
Validity: 3 years. |
|
After the expiry of the 3 years, the individual may apply for a Permanent status for a further period of 10 years. |
